报告题目:Modeling streamer discharges: current status and challenges
报告摘要:
Streamer discharges are rapidly growing ionized channels. They are the first stage of other discharges such as sparks or lightning leaders, and they are used in diverse technological applications. In this talk I will present my work on the numerical modeling of streamers. The first part of the talk is a basic introduction to the modeling of fast pulsed discharges. The approximations underlying particle and fluid models will be discussed, as well as their advantages and limitations. The second part of the talk is about the current possibilities of simulation models. I will highlight how some of the past (computational) challenges have been overcome, and present work on 3D models for streamer discharges. The third part is about the future possibilities of discharge simulations, focusing on the support for complex geometries and comparisons with experiments.
报告人简介:
Dr. Herman Jan Teunissen obtained his PhD(cum laude)in 2015 in the multiscale dynamics (MD) group at the CWI(Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica, Amsterdam) in the Netherlands under supervision of Prof. Ute Ebert. For about 10 years his focus has been on computational science, and in particular on computational physics. He has built up expertise on numerical methods, (parallel) computer programming, plasma physics, devising approximations, data analysis and data visualization. Currently, he is a postdoc at Centre for Mathematical Plasma Astrophysics (KU Leuven) to gain more expertise on computational (magneto-)hydrodynamics and high-performance computing, while also continuing research on electric discharges. He has published more than 20 journal papers mostly in the field of streamer discharge simulations.
